SAN ANTONIO, Texas – On Monday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced that 57-year-old Patricia Martinez died on Saturday after she had been hospitalized in critical condition for neglect and abuse suffered at the hands of her three children.
On Thursday, Deputies arrested her three children in what the sheriff’s office is calling a severe case of abuse.
37-year-old Oscar Dominguez and his siblings Roxanna and Pedro Luis Carrero were taken into custody.
“It appears that none of them were doing what they were supposed to be doing,” said Sheriff Javier Salazar.
The mother was in hospice care, and instead of compassionate end-of-life care by all three of her children, Salazar says that she was neglected to the point that mold was growing on her body.
Deputies started investigating a couple of days ago after getting a call from medical caretakers who reported the conditions inside the house.
“She was found wearing an adult diaper packed with feces in a dried state where it was physically causing infections in other parts of her body,” Salazar said.
Salazar says the mother’s kidneys began to fail are failing due to the neglect.
“It was clear that this lady has been suffering for quite some time,” Salazar said.
He also says the neglect charge these three suspects are facing is a felony and all of their charges may likely be upgraded after her passing.
