Three companies have filed WARN Act notices in half a dozen States notifying of the layoff of over 1,000 delivery drivers, dispatchers, managers and warehouse workers affected.
RCX Logistics filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice in Texas for 500 workers in various locations throughout the state. They also filed notice in Florida with 72 workers at their Tampa location which they will be closing permanently.
Freight Broker Live reached out to the RCX Logistics representative listed on the notice, Sandy Walker, the VP of HR and she confirmed the layoffs and informed of additional layoffs in Alabama, although a state spokesperson said they have not received official notification but were able to verify with the company that a notice was sent via US Mail and 66 people are going to be laid off in Alabama.
Bear Down Logistics filed WARN Act notices in Ohio, Virginia, Minnesota and Illinois that as many as 280 workers would lose their jobs. According to Bloomberg, another facility in Michigan with 120 workers might also be closing although there is no official word as of yet.
A third company, Express Parcel Services filed notice in Florida informing of the loss of the contract and revealed 267 workers would be laid off at five separate locations throughout Florida.
All companies listed the loss of Amazon’s delivery contracts as the reason for the layoffs.
