An undercover Michigan State Trooper was shot early Tuesday morning while conducting a surveillance operation.
According to the Michigan State Police, an undercover narcotics unit was conducting surveillance in the 14000 Block of Riverview in Northwest Detroit when the unit took gunfire from an unknown suspect. One trooper was critically wounded and rushed to the hospital by other officers.
Police are currently searching for the suspect and are attempting to make contact with any occupants in the building where the shots originated. Police have barricaded the nearby area and are asking all residents to stay inside unless contacted by police.
According to a release from the MSP, they are seeking a search warrant for the apartment building.
