LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials seized over $7 million worth of methamphetamine at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge on May 31.
A CBP officer referred a 2006 Nissan Titan arriving from Mexico for secondary inspection, and following a K-9 alert to the vehicle, they discovered a total of 356.15 pounds of methamphetamine stored in buckets that were concealed among personal belongings.
The following is a list we have gathered of drugs apprehended at the border and posted by authorities last week.
El Paso Sector
Following a K-9 alert on a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old female Mexican citizen at the Bridge of the Americas border crossing, 22.75 pounds of methamphetamine in multiple bundles was discovered.
Ysleta Border Patrol officers intercepted 38.22 pounds of cocaine found hidden in a vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Mexican citizen.
Officers at the Paso Del Norte border crossing intercepted 24.25 pounds of cocaine from a 28-year-old male U.S. citizen.
A K-9 alerted to a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old male Mexican citizen, leading to the discovery of bundles of cocaine.
Minutes later, an inspection of a vehicle driven by a 45-year-old male Mexican citizen revealed multiple bundles filled with fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Between the two incidents, officers seized 31.3 pounds of methamphetamine, 15.65 pounds of fentanyl, and 16.62 pounds of cocaine.
Officers at the Bridge of the Americas border crossing were tipped off by a K-9 and discovered 25.52 pounds of cocaine in the vehicle of a 23-year-old female U.S. citizen.
At the Paso Del Norte border crossing, 45.75 pounds of methamphetamine was discovered in a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old female U.S. citizen following a K-9 alert.
Officers at the Paso Del Norte border crossing seized 8.46 pounds of fentanyl and five pounds of heroin after inspecting a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old female Mexican citizen.
Later that day, 2.1 pounds of methamphetamine was discovered after a pat down search of a 23-year-old male U.S. citizen arriving via pedestrian. Multiple bundles had been strapped to the individual’s body.
Also at the Paso del Norte border crossing, 12.78 pounds of cocaine was intercepted from an 18-year-old male U.S. citizen who had hidden multiple bundles in his vehicle.
Gloria Chavez, Chief Border Patrol Officer for the El Paso sector tweeted out praise for agents who intercepted methamphetamine and fentanyl at a highway checkpoint.
According to Chavez, this fiscal year to date, agents in the El Paso sector have seized over 353 pounds of methamphetamines and 53 pounds of fentanyl.
