Drunk trucker faces 5 counts of aggravated assault after pit bull attack
A truck driver was arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated assault after Ringwood police say he was seen driving his semi and a trailer full of luxury boats while “weaving all over the road” on the Greenwood Lake Turnpike in northern New Jersey.
54-year old John Baker of Spring Hill, Florida is currently in jail after refusing to stop for police officers. When he finally pulled over, and police attempted to remove him from the truck, police say he let his nearly 100-pound pit bull loose, unhooking him from his leash despite multiple warnings and according to officers.
As the dog charged at the five officers on scene, two of the police officers fired several times, killing the animal. One of the police officers involved in the shooting was previously a K-9 officer.
Baker is in jail facing five counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, driving under the influence, reckless driving, eluding and several other offenses.
