Feds plan to distributes 800k masks to truckers…..eventually (UPDATED)
(UPDATED 1721 EST 4/28: Several drivers reported they were provided face masks at the Alma I-40 weight station, so it looks like they are finally beginning to distribute masks to truckers)
According the the Owner-Operator Independent Driver’s Association (OOIDA), federal authorities have agreed to distribute nearly 800,000 masks to America’s truckers at over 35 locations across the country, although no actual date has been set.
According to OOIDA, the masks will be provided at no cost in a joint partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Transportation. The groups are currently working to establish a distribution plan to get the masks into drivers hands and no date has been made available yet for the disbursement.
“This has been a long time coming, but it’s finally going to happen,” Doug Morris, OOIDA’s director of safety and security, told Landline Magazine. “The distribution of this (personal protective equipment) is a direct response to OOIDA’s letter to the president asking for PPE for truck drivers. They are continuing to work on other pressing needs, such as hand sanitizer and additional testing.”

Arkansas
