A Florida Deputy has resigned following a traffic stop that led to public outcry.
On August 12th, shortly before midnight, Bradford County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Desue tried to pull over Ebony Washington, of Jacksonville for a speeding violation. According to police, Washington was traveling at 75 mph in a 55-mph zone as she drove north on State Road 200. When Desue attempted to pull over Washington, she did not stop. Instead, she turned on her hazards and reduced speeds.
In the video, Desue is heard saying they were traveling at 30 mph. Washington eventually stopped at a well-lit gas station. Desue then proceeded to conduct a felony stop on the vehicle, ordering Washington out of the vehicle at gunpoint. Washingon said she was traveling with her children and wanted to get to a well-lit area before stopping. Washington was placed in handcuffs but then released.
Following public outcry, Desue resigned from his position with the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office.
