Goodyear bans employees from wearing certain clothing, employees say it is discriminatory
A Goodyear employee from Kansas is calling the company’s new “zero-tolerance” policy discriminatory after banning employees from wearing Blue Lives Matters, All Lives Matter and other “political” slogan clothing, calling them unacceptable. The company however says says that acceptable clothing includes Black Lives Matter and LGBT themed clothing.
The photo of a training slide was posted online by a employee from a manufacturing plant, who posted the photo after feeling the new policy was “discrimination.”
“If someone wants to wear a BLM shirt in here, then cool,” the employee told WIBW-TV condition of anonymity. “I’m not going to get offended about it. But at the same time, if someone’s not going to be able to wear something that is politically based, even in the farthest stretch of the imagination, that’s discriminatory.”
The photo, which quickly went viral, also caught the attention of President Trump who called for a boycott on the tire brand.
Goodyear also posted a reply after the Presidents tweet, attempting to provide some context to the company’s policies and stated that they support both equality and law enforcement.
