Around 1 A.M. in the Capitol Hill area formally known as CHAZ, a 31-year-old male was shot and killed at 10th and Pike.
A group of people had taken to the streets to celebrate the naming Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election by mainstream media organizations. It was during that celebration that things took a deadly turn.
Police were called to the area and upon arrival, officers located the male victim and began life-saving measures until the Seattle Fire Department took over primary care. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center but later succumbed to his injuries.
It is unclear what lead to the shooting or who a suspect might be. A suspect was reportedly seen running from the area southbound of the shooting first reported around 1:08 AM.
In a series of tweets, the Seattle Department of transportation shared updates on the area in question. At 11:15 pm a screenshot was shared that shows a large gathering in the intersection.
A second tweet that was also shared by the Seattle police department, shows a much different scene as the area is flooded with emergency response vehicles.
