Kirby Leave Fox News Host Stunned: “Russia & China ‘Marvel’ at Biden’s speed,” the “efficiency and effectiveness” of withdrawal from Afghanistan
On Wednesday morning’s episode of “Fox and Friends,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby joined the show to talk about National security concerns, China and Russia.
The Biden Administrations’ withdrawal from Afghanistan was a disaster, ending with 13 soldiers dying in a suicide bombing while protecting the Kabul airport during the evacuation, and this week the Pentagon admitted that Chinese officials and diplomats used the humiliating American withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 to portray the U.S. as an unreliable international partner and a ‘declining power,’ according to a Pentagon report released on Tuesday.
“In 2021, the PRC employed multiple diplomatic tools in an attempt to erode U.S. and partner influence, such as highlighting the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and criticizing U.S.-backed security partnerships,” the Department of Defense concluded.
But that did not stop Kirby from praising the withdrawal when speaking with “Fox and Friends” on Wednesday.
“Let’s talk about the Defense Department’s annual report because it is saying that Biden’s fumbled withdrawal from Afghanistan was a propaganda gift to China. Do you agree with that?” Ainsley Earhardt asked.
Kirby replied, “No, I do not. And I don’t know that that’s the Pentagon’s assessment that it was a propaganda gift to China. If anything, nations like China and Russia took a look at what we did in Afghanistan. And we’ve talked about this many, many times over the last year, and had to marvel at the speed, the efficiency and effectiveness that a very small —“
Brian Kilmeade was obviously shocked by the spokesman answer, stating, “Oh, please!”
Kirby was quick to counter, stating, “Brian, you listen to me now, hear me out — that a small number of troops were able to move that many Afghans safely out of that country. No other nation in the world can do that.”
