The Gautier Police Department is looking for the public’s help in locating a truck driver who went missing under suspicious circumstances.
Police say 47-year-old Dimitri Rai Williams went missing sometime after 6 a.m. on July 27th after stopping his truck at the eastbound rest area off Interstate 10 in Gautier, MS. Williams was hauling a load from Fresno, California to Atlanta, Georgia. After his company noticed his truck was idle, they called the Gautier Police to perform a welfare check based on his last known GPS coordinates.
Police arrived to the rest area to find the semi and trailer, but no sign of Williams. Police spoke to the groundskeeper at the rest stop who said that as William’s truck pulled into the rest stop the day before, he was followed by a black SUV. According to the groundskeeper, Williams exited his truck and entered the passenger side of the SUV. That was the last time anyone has heard from Williams.
Police are considering the disappearance suspicious. Based on photos provided with the missing persons alert, William has short hair and tattoos on both arms. Police also say that Williams suffers from diabetes and multiple sclerosis. Anyone with information is requested to call the Gautier Police Department at 228-497-2486.
