The driver of the white Jaguar involved in the late night accident which seriously injured two Black Lives Matter protesters who were blocking Interstate 5 in Seattle late last night has been identified.
27- year old Dawit Kelete, of Seattle reportedly was driving a Jaguar around 1:40 Saturday morning when he entered the closed highway and drove around the blockade at high speeds, striking two women who were participating in the unlawful protest.
Harborview Medical Center spokesperson Susan Gregg identified Summer Taylor, 24 of Seattle and Diaz Love, 32 of Bellingham, WA as the two women struck by Kelete. Both women are listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.
Love was live streaming to Facebook just moments before being struck by the high speed performance car. (See our previous story here)
Before Kelete’s name was released, people on social media suggested the unknown driver had ties to right-wing extremism, only to delete those tweets and messages when Kelete’s identity was released.
Kelete is currently being held without bail on two counts of vehicular assault.
