Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle that was involved in a deadly chain reaction crash that claimed the life of a truck driver in Birmingham on October 6th.
According to the press release, Birmingham police were dispatched to a traffic collision on I-65. Police say a white vehicle hit a small silver car, which was launched into a tractor-trailer. The tractor trailer then struck a black SUV before both the semi and the black SUV went over barrier and plummeted approximately 25 feet to the roadway below.
The trucker, identified as Charles Eugene Pearce, 59 was killed in the crash. Another driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The white vehicle, which caused the accident fled the scene. Police are asking anyone with information to call Birmingham police hit-and-run investigators at 205-254-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
