After 63-days of unrest, Oregon’s largest city might finally be coming to an end as police are finally being permitted to take back the city. Early this morning, Portland Police announced via loudspeaker that the people camping inside Chapman and Lownsdale Squares, two parks next to the courthouse, would have ten minutes to pack up their things and move or face arrest.
The decision to clear out the park comes after months of violent rioting and fighting between radical factions of Antifa and the BLM Movement who launched massive nightly attacks on the Mark O. Hatfield Courthouse, the Justice Center, and neighborhood businesses. As part of a new agreement between Oregon lawmakers and White House officials, the State has agreed to start protecting itself from the radical domestic terrorist attacks as part of a planned draw-down of Federal law enforcement personnel who were sent in to protect the federal property against the attacks several weeks ago.
Portland’s Mayor and Commissioner of the Portland Police Bureau, Ted Wheeler made the announcement on his Twitter account saying the Oregon State Police requested the parks cleared “as part of the plan for federal officers to leave our community.” For all those who are unaware, Portland has been, well…., a war zone for the past two months after this Mayor decided to allow domestic terrorists to attack the Mark O. Hatfield Courthouse, the Justice Center and other parts of the city without any sort of push-back.
For weeks now, the sun would go down and the attacks against the Courthouse would begin. Protesters would line the barricades in-front of the federal building and attempt to pull it down, set fires, attack federal officers and throw incendiary devices at the building, and officers protecting it. Federal authorities would exit the building using tear-gas, flash bangs and non-lethal impact rounds in attempts to force the domestic terrorists back and then would retreat into the federal building, and then do it again.
While no one is really sure what will happen tonight with OSP on the ground (if they are on the ground) I am sure it will be something to watch. Make sure to check out our nightly coverage on Wake Up America starting at 9:30 p.m. est.
