Second fatal shooting at Amazon distribution facility in less than 3 months
One person is dead, and another is clinging to life after a shooting at an Amazon distribution center in Jacksonville. This is the second fatal shooting at this facility in the past 90 days.
According to local authorities, a woman is dead and another man was rushed to the hospital after a shooting at the facility. Both victims are believed to be employees, and there might have been some sort of “domestic relationship” between the two, according to Lt. J.D. Stronko with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. According to reports, police have recovered a weapon and there is no threat to the public.
“This is a terrible tragedy. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families, and all those who have been impacted by this incident. We are working closely with the Sheriff as they investigate,” Amazon spokesperson Leah Seay said in a statement.
A woman, who works in the distribution center said she heard several gunshots whole she was in the cafeteria. “It was actual gunshots, and we walked a couple of steps, you see two people laid out by the stairs,” she told News4Jax.
In June, there was another shooting at this warehouse which claimed the life of a 20-year old man, and injured two others who were all waiting in line outside the facility in hopes of filling out job applications. In that shooting, police suspect two shooters, who both fled the facility.
