According to Carrier411 210 new applications for brokerage authority were filed in the last seven days. There were also 1961 applications received for those looking to start their own trucking operations hauling property.
According to the latest National Average Diesel Price released by the EPA, the national diesel price has fallen again to $2.81 per gallon, down .26 cents from one year ago. California prices are still through the roof at $3.70 per gallon, down .02 from last week and .07 from last year. Prices are expected to continue to fall with the looming oil pricing war between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Rates are continuing to rise, according to DAT. Dry van demand continues to rise as stores are pushing to restock empty shelves as consumers buy up supplies as Coronavirus fears begin to become a reality with more cases and deaths reported in the States each day. The dry-van national rate has continued to increase to $1.82 with a 12.1% increase in load-to-truck ratios from last week. Reefer and Flatbed rates are also up from last week as we come out of a poor start of the year. Flatbed averages have increased to $2.19, up .04 from February’s average national rate. Reefer averages are up .02 to $2.11 for a national average.
