Suspect wanted in brutal protest attack, Marquise Love turns himself in
Portland Police announced today that the 25-year old assault suspect wanted in connection with a brutal assault in Portland on Sunday night turned himself in.
Marquise Love turned himself in to Portland Detectives and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center just after 8:30 a.m. this morning according to a press release from the Portland Police Bureau. He is currently facing Assault II, Riot and Coercion charges for the brutal beating of a pickup truck driver late Sunday night.
In a video that has sense gone viral, Love is seen, along with several other unidentified suspects beating several people before Love delivers a brutal head-kick from behind one of the victims, knocking him unconscious. Love was immediately identified on social media as the man in the video who delivered the cheap-shot.
Police reported earlier that they “left messages” Love to turn himself in, and were actively pursuing the suspect.
“I am pleased the suspect in this case turned himself in and appreciate all of the efforts to facilitate this safe resolution,” said Portland Police Bureau Chief Chuck Lovell. “Thank you to all of the members of the public who have provided information and tips to our investigators. Your assistance is very much appreciated.”
In our breakdown video we broke down all four assaults which occurred in the 35 minute period that Sunday night. There were at least five other suspects seen assaulting several other victims including the victim’s girlfriend, an unidentified male and a trans-woman who suffered three broken ribs after being attacked. We will have to wait and see if anyone else is held accountable for their actions.
