
Texas teen accidentally shoots friend in the chest while playing with gun
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Guns are not toys. And yet, a 17-year-old has been left in critical condition after he was shot in the chest by his friend in what is being called an accidental shooting.
San Antonio police are investigating a shooting where one teenager said he accidentally shot another teenager.
The shooting happened along Marbach Rd., near Military Dr., just before midnight Sunday night.
Police said two teens were playing with a gun when one shot the other, but then called police to say it was an accident. Both teens reported that he 16-year-old pointed the gun at the 17-year-old and said, “I’m gonna kill you,” before pulling the trigger and shooting the friend in the chest, but that the shooting was an accident and that they were just playing around.
Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The 16-year-old then immediately called 911 for help to report an accident.
SAPD said that the 16-year-old was arrested and will still face aggravated assault with a deadly weapons charge.
