The left’s newest political doxing attempt
There used to be a time in America where voting was considered a personal, sacred, and private right. The notion that one’s vote and support takes place in the voter booth and stayed in the voter booth. Unfortunately, today’s political climate has led to a somewhat frightening way of thinking.
People have been targeted for Trump yard signs, flags, or wearing Trump gear in public and even been subject to violent physical attacks. This has forced many to hide their political support and not physically show support in any way that can draw attention to themselves.
However, now there is a web site that is designed to track those who have donated to the Trump campaign. Donaldtrump.watch provides users with a way to search an area by zip code or by name. The results return an interactive map that shows all of the donors. One simply has to click on a result and you are granted the person’s name, address, and donation amount.
The website, which is reportedly a domain of an anonymous Delware company called Public Service Media Group, Inc. changed the domain “Racist.Watch” last year, according to a PJmedia.com article from October 20th, 2019.
Yes, political donations have always been a matter of public record. But one had to dig through the records to find the information. Not only does this web site provide a snapshot of everyone that has donated to the Trump campaign, but one is greeted with the following message when they first arrive at the site:
“Americans that Donated to a Vulgar, Lying, Draft Dodger and Tax Cheat. 220,000 DEAD.”
This site is meant to be used as a tool to intimidate voters and donors, but it can also be used to retaliate after the election.
Police are also investigating letters that homeowners received in two New England towns.
“Dear neighbor,” the letter read. “You have been identified by our group as being a Trump supporter. Your address has been added to our database as a target when we attack should Trump not concede the election.” It goes on to give a suggestion. “We recommend that you check your home insurance policy and make that it is current and that it has adequate coverage for fire damage.”
Police said they’ve reported the threats to the US Postal Service, but have yet to identify those responsible for them.
With coalitions like Protect the Results, they have a goal of mobilizing millions of people.
From Nov. 4 to Nov. 7, organized activities will include hitting the streets daily to “respond to rapidly changing events.”
From Nov. 8 to Nov. 11, members will be prepared for Congress members to return to Capitol Hill when protesters potentially meet them at train stations, airports, or even their homes.
“The only guardrail keeping Trump from driving our democracy over the cliff into an ocean of fascism is we the people on Election Day,” said Nelini Stamp, Director of Strategy and Partnerships at the Working Families Party. “The Working Families Party is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with allies to protect our right to vote. If Trump wants to ignore the will of the people and fight over election results, it’s a fight he’ll get.”
While campaign finances are a matter of public record, this website seems personal, targeted, and full of dark intentions. It is unclear who owns the website or what they intend for users to do with the information. The social media links on the site are dead links that do not actually connect to anything.
Ironic that a quote from Voltaire has a prominent home in the header of the website, “Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.”
What do they think people will use this information for?
