
Train derails after hitting truck in Duluth
Authorities are saying that a freight train that struck a semi that was stuck on the tracks caused the train to partially derail in Duluth, Georgia on June 17th.
According to Gwinnett County Fire officials, the accident happened just before 9:30 a.m. Three people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. According to these officials, between 20 and 23 railcars derailed after striking the semi. Two of the derailed railcars contained HAZMAT materials and no leaks were reported.
Norfolk Southern Corporation arrived at the scene, assessed the situation and began implementing plans for cleanup operations. The derailed train was removed throughout the day.
