Trees for Troops: Tree Farms in Several States Donating Trees to Show Appreciation
The Christmas Spirit Foundation is providing live Christmas trees to members of the armed services and their families through the support of local tree farms in several states.
“Trees for Troops program has provided almost a quarter million free, real Christmas Trees to military families and troops since it started in 2005. Our mission is to provide Christmas SPIRIT to kids, families and the environment, and the Trees for Troops program does that,” their website reads.
To get involved, Trees for Troops says that all you need to do is visit one of the Participating
Locations during Trees for Troops Weekend, December 2-4, where you can buy a tree, write a personal message on a special tag, attach it to the tree and add that tree to the FedEx trailer on-site.
According to the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, they are estimating that 15,300 total trees will be picked up from 54 locations and given to 84 total bases. Trees are donated by individual farms and lots, the collective efforts of state and regional Christmas Tree associations, local sponsoring groups, and the customers of participating locations.
“Hundreds of donors and volunteers participate each year to make Trees for Troops happen,” CSF says.
