
Trooper involved in shooting while conducting random inspection
A North Carolina state trooper was involved in a shooting January 27th, 2020 while conducting a roadside inspection of a commercial vehicle.
According to new reports, the trooper was conducting a roadside safety inspection on a commercial truck on interstate 95 in Robeson County, NC when an unidentified person who was not involved with the commercial inspection approached the trooper. The trooper reportedly told the armed subject to stop but when the subject ignored these commands, the trooper fired and hit the subject.
The wounded subject was taken to the hospital but his condition is unknown at the time of publication. The commercial vehicle’s driver was not injured in the shooting. Neither the armed person or the trooper have been identified.
The trooper was placed on administrative leave and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was looking into the case at the request of the State Highway Patrol.
