Trucker arrested after assaulting woman at truck stop and catching truck on fire
A trucker from Tennessee is in jail following a night of violence after reportedly assaulting a woman at a truck stop in Ohio and then fleeing the scene, destroying property and ultimately catching the trucks tires on fire.
This whole event started at a Love’s Truck Stop in Bellville, Ohio late Saturday after Bellville Police received a report that a man had assaulted a woman at the truck stop. According to local reports, police issued a “be on the alert” for the trucker and his truck. Soon after, Lexington Police located the truck and followed the trucker until State Police were able to catch up to the truck.
Police say the truck stopped to let the woman out and then continued down the road. Police later discovered the truck on fire after its tires caught fire. According to police, the driver refused to get out of the burning truck and had to be removed by officers.
Jerry Williams, 35, of Marysville, Tennessee, has been charged with failure to control, OVI, obstructing official business and hit/skip for damaging properties in Mansfield Police Department’s jurisdiction and the guardrail which resulted in the fire.
