The trucker who was behind the wheel of a livestock hauler involved in the fatal accident after hitting an activist who was protesting outside a pork processing plant last month.
The Halton Regional Police Service released a statement on July 20th saying the 28-year old driver from the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act.
On June 19th, 2020 a 65-year old animal rights activist who was protesting outside of Fearmans Pork, Inc., a meat processing plant in Burlington, Ontario, was fatally struck by the livestock hauler after attempting to stop the truck.
After a month long investigation, police made the decision to charge the drivers. the police did mention in their release that there were no grounds to indicate this accident “was an intentional act, or that a criminal offence had been committed.”
