Trucker charged in fatal accident which killed 4 people last August

A Montreal trucker has been arrested in relation to a fatal highway pileup just north of Montreal last summer that left four people dead and injured 15 others.

54-year old Jagmeet Grewal has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing injury in the August 5th, 2019 crash along a busy stretch of Highway 440 in Laval, Quebec. Police say Grewal was driving the truck that allegedly caused the 9 car pileup. In total, four people were killed and 15 others were injured, including several first responders who were overcome by smoke.

Grewal was arrested at his home on Thursday and is expected to appear at the Laval courthouse at a later date.
