
Trucker shoots at men attempting to rob him at Pilot truck stop
Four men attempted to rob a trucker early Tuesday morning, only to find out that truckers fight back!
It all started early Tuesday morning at a Dalton, Georgia Pilot Travel Center when a trucker was confronted by four men, who attempted to rob him. According to police, during the struggle, the trucker was able to pull out a pistol and fire at one of the suspects. All four suspects then fled.
One of the suspects fled in a Gold mini-van, while three fled on foot. Police were able to locate the minivan sometime later as it traveled down Interstate 75 and the vehicle was stopped by the Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division officer. The vehicle was driven by 54-year old Walter Wathen, from Cincinnati, OH, who was identified as one of the suspects and arrested without incident. The other three men, all described as white males between the ages of 30-50 have been described as follows:
- Suspect 1: black pants, black shirt, black hat
- Suspect 2: white shirt, blue jeans,or khaki shorts
- Suspect 3: gray shirt and hat
The Whitfield County Sheriffs office said in a statement Tuesday that the driver was not injured in the struggle, nor do they believe any of the suspects were hit by the bullet fired.
