In an interview with Fox News’s Fox and Friends May 8th, President Trump responds to a reporter’s question regarding truckers concerns of being price gouged by stating, “they are price-gouged.”
Several hundred truckers have been in Washington, D.C. for the past week protesting low rates, broker transparency, HOS reform, increased training requirements, and more (depending who you talk to on the ground). Earlier in the week the President tweeted out support for America’s truckers, but this is the first time we have heard the President speak about the truckers sitting outside the White House.
“Looked like 1000 trucks. They were honking, honking,” speaking of the coordinated air-horn S.O.S. that truckers were doing nearly every hour. “I actually sent representatives out. It was very funny. They were honking all day, and they are great people, and people who like me. They like Trump,” said the President.
President Trump confirmed sending out hats to the drivers and responded that the drivers are asking for “almost nothing” and just want to be treated fairly.
“Were handling the truckers,” the President concluded. “We are going to take care of them”
