After weeks of trying to push through another coronavirus stimulus package, only to have negotiations flop, President Trump announced that he has instructed the Republican lawmakers to pause all negotiations, instructing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to focus on getting his nominee for US Supreme Court approved.
In a series of tweets the President announced that negotiations would resume after he wins the election, which he will then pass a “major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business.”
“Today, once again, President Trump showed his true colors: putting himself first at the expense of the country, with the full complicity of the GOP Members of Congress,” Said Nancy Pelosi in a private conference call with house democrats on Tuesday according to an article by CNN. “Walking away from coronavirus talks demonstrates that President Trump is unwilling to crush the virus,” added Pelosi.
According to CNN, during the call, Pelosi questioned whether the corticosteroid the President was prescribed during his treatment for COVID was impairing his judgement.
“Believe me, there are people who think that steroids have an impact on thinking,” Pelosi told Democrats as she tried to explain her view of what the President was trying to do, a person on the call said. “So I just don’t know.”
