YouTube restores 9-year-old sick child’s channel after “error” caused account to be deleted
On Thursday, Youtube restored the channel of 9-year-old “Captain Kori,” who is on palliative care. He had a wish to hit 100K subscribers on his YouTube channel “Kraken the Box.” He wanted to get a silver “Play Button.”
Today, supporters applaud YouTube’s decision to restore the channel after they say an “error” caused the channel to be suspended.
The channel began almost a week ago with one goal, to reach 100k subscribers. Kori’s parents reached out to various actors for help in spreading the word and actor Johnny Depp, dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow, responded, and a video call with the actor was made.
The boy’s channel then soared past the 100k benchmark he wanted. Now it seems YouTube has removed the channel.
But shortly after the video call with Depp, viewers were shocked and outraged when visitors to the channel receives either a 404 error or a notice that the channel was removed for violating YouTube’s Terms of Service.
